BUILT ON OTHER PEOPLE'S WORK

Every piece of software below was written by somebody else and given away. Some of it is GPL, which means the licence travels with the code and has to be handed on to you along with it โ€” the licence links go to the actual file shipped with the code it covers, not to a copy of it somewhere else.

THE GAMBIT โ€” CHESS

The chess is almost entirely other people's work. Stockfish and python-chess are both GPL-3.0.

WHAT SERVES THE PAGES

None of this is sent to your browser; it runs here. Credited because it did the work.

WHATWHOUSED FORLICENCE
Flask Pallets The web framework underneath all of it BSD-3-Clause
SQLAlchemy Michael Bayer and contributors Talking to the database MIT
Gunicorn Benoit Chesneau and contributors Runs the application MIT
Pillow Jeffrey A. Clark and contributors Image handling MIT-CMU
Caddy Matt Holt and contributors The front door, and the certificates on it Apache-2.0

Licences marked in gold are GPL. Where that code is sent to your browser โ€” Stockfish is โ€” the licence file ships beside it and is linked above. Where it only ever runs on the server, python-chess for instance, running it is not distribution and no licence file has to travel, but it is credited anyway because it did the work.

Something missing or miscredited? That is a bug. Say so and it gets fixed.
